I hope everyone who is reading this had a wonderful New Year’s Eve – whether you spent it snuggled into bed, with friends and family, or partying like a wild animal! I spent mine with my family. My mom, brother and sister-in-law all came over and we had a small party with lots of decadent food and finally had our gift exchange!!!
I counted this morning – I got 40 new bottles of nail polish! Is it enough? No, of course not. But, I’m going to have some fun experimenting with them and sharing them here. I need some storage ideas. Please share below if you have any fantastic ones!
Some of the non-nail-polish goodies I received were some off-brand latex to use when I do water marbling and gradients and a quick dry spray from Sally Hansen which (I think) is no longer produced. When I get around to trying it I’ll let you know what i find out. The latex will happen much sooner – but, that’ll be a blog post all on it’s own.
So, of course I couldn’t just NOT play with any of my new haul! Orly’s Makeup To Breakup is the one I decided to start with:
This is the design I ended up doing today. It’s a lot darker teal blue than I thought it would be, after two coats of the blue. I was dreaming of oceans and marine life (and thinking that it is cold outside – blue is an appropriate cold weather color) when I swatched it, but on the nail, it’s more like the deep dark bottom of the ocean. (I wish I had an octopus stamp – that would be perfect!!) Had I been thinking about it I would have done a swatch before I stamped onto it so you could see the true color of this polish. Anyway, I’m going to leave it on for a few days – till Sunday night, when I do something a little quieter for work. But, over the weekend I’m going to enjoy these fun, darker nails. Teal is after all, one of my very favorite colors!
