It’s definitely green season! Yesterday I received two new stamping plate sets I’d ordered in the mail. I’m so very excited to try start using them – so I decided to do another St. Patrick’s themed look on my nails. One of the sets had this cool Celtic looking pattern on it so I decided to do something a little fun and use it. They turned out kinda bright, but I can live with them for a day. Everyone needs a little pop of color now and then, right?
If I do something like this again, I think instead of the bright chartreuse green, I’ll use a gold. Yeah, this is definately is a bit out of my comfort zone.
This was also my first time using my clear stamper on all of my nails. I’ve used it to place a single image, but not for pattern placement across multiple nails. Although I found it easy enough to center the image, I don’t know that it picked up the finer details in this design too well. Maybe it just takes a little more practice.
I did use the liquid latex on this manicure. I applied my base coat, then painted a layer of white to make sure the green popped. Then I did one hand with the latex. After that, I sponged on about three layers of the green and let it dry really well. Then I stamped the white Celtic pattern on top. It wasn’t till I was completely done with one hand that I took off the latex and started on the second one. (Using the latex easily saved me a half-hour of cleanup time. I absolutely love this stuff! Read more on it HERE.) It took me about two hours to do this manicure beginning to end…
And about two minutes after proclaiming it done I snagged a nail and gouged a nice hole in my work. <sigh> At least that ensures another manicure tomorrow, right?
I’m a little disappointed you can’t see the shimmer in either one of the greens – even in the sunlight. It’s subtle and very pretty. I do love the darker color of green here and I think the two colors blended together nicely.
