I had to go to Kansas City yesterday for a doctor’s appointment. It was not a big deal but my husband’s getting ready to go back onto the night shift and his schedule has been a mess since someone quit – so, we decided to go ahead and take the rest of the day off and spend it in KC. 🙂
There were no cool stores like Sephora or Ulta or the caviar of shopping to be found in Oak Park Mall anywhere in Topeka at the time of writing this – so I coerced a bit of time in the mall (Oak Park, none the less) out of him. While we were there, I had to stop in The Icing – 16 years ago I was a manager there and every time I’m in a mall (which is about twice a year) I have to swing through. Normally, I find a lot of nothing I can’t live without, but not this trip. I have been searching for a light gray polish for months and there was ONE perfect bottle of it there. I had to get it – even if it meant breaking my $4 rule. (I don’t spend over $4 on any bottle of polish.) It was $5.50 and I figured this was kinda a special occasion.
I knew exactly what I wanted to do with this color. I have been eyeing this pattern on my new Winstonia plates since they arrived and knew this color pair would be great together. It didn’t disappoint. 🙂
This polish had a creamy, almost opaque in one coat texture and though it went on a bit streaky, leveled out after a few seconds of being on my nails. I don’t have any newer bottles of Icing polish, so I don’t know if this is normal or not for the brand. It also seemed to take an extra-long amount of time to dry, so thin coats are necessary if you don’t want to spend two hours working on your mani.
Gray and white is a classic color combination and since it’s neutral, goes with everything. It matters a lot to me that my nails match my outfits and this one doesn’t disappoint. It’s also perfectly quiet and office-appropriate. I think I might add a touch of glitter to it the day before I take it off. What do you think? Yeah or nay to that?
